In a world where the furniture industry is essential for creating comfort in our spaces, the industry's impact on the environment is often overlooked. In the Netherlands alone, millions of kilograms of furniture are discarded annually, with only 10% recycled. The rest ends up in landfills, contributing to a growing environmental burden.
Our mission is towards zero furniture waste by helping furniture producers simplify end-of-life management to reduce landfill waste. We optimise end-to-end waste solutions and digital tools to ensure responsible supply chains with the goal of closing the loop on furniture waste. Our solution unfolds in two major phases with the initial focus on extending the lifespan of furniture products. We do this by connecting discarded furniture from consumers and businesses with recycling companies to ensure items are collected and processed in a circular manner. This phase directly addresses the challenges of disposal by making it accessible and hassle-free. Building on this foundation, FurnZero will also offer a one-stop data portal to increase supply chain transparency using AI and blockchain. This will engage supply chain stakeholders across the furniture industry to identify lifecycle inefficiencies, from material composition, waste generation, and end life management.
